2009
First site: drainage works in Kawempe, eleven people and one pickup.
Started with a drainage contract. Built for the long term.
Nsimbi began in 2009 with a simple observation: too many buildings in Uganda were being delivered as if the only measure of success was the handover date. We thought the measure should be how the building performs ten years later.
The first contract was a drainage scheme in Kawempe. It was unglamorous work in difficult ground, and it taught us the discipline that still defines the firm: understand the site, price honestly, and finish what you start.
Seventeen years later, we work across six regions and every major sector. The scale has changed. The standard has not.
“We are not trying to be the biggest contractor in Uganda. We are trying to be the one you call again.”
Seventeen years, one site at a time.

Four rules we do not bend.
Values are only useful if they change a decision. These four do, regularly.
Local knowledge, global standards
We build in Uganda, with Ugandan teams and supply chains — held to the detailing, safety and documentation standards of the best international practice.
Say the number
Costs, risks and delays are shared early and in plain language. A difficult truth at week two is worth more than a surprise at handover.
Safety is a method
Safety is designed into the programme, not added to the noticeboard. Every person on our sites has the authority to stop work.
Build for the next generation
Materials are chosen for maintenance and lifespan, not just first cost. We train apprentices on every project and source locally wherever we can.
The people accountable.
Small enough to know your name. Experienced enough to have seen the problem before.
Ronald Ssekandi

Head of Safety & Sustainability
Occupational health specialist. Built the site-safety system that has taken Nsimbi through 1.4 million hours without a lost-time incident.
Western Uganda / 2025Safety and sustainability are methods.
Both are designed into the programme, not added to the noticeboard. Safety starts with a site-specific plan and the authority for anyone to stop work. Sustainability starts with measuring what we use, and choosing materials for maintenance and lifespan rather than first cost.
We are ISO 45001 certified and aligned with ISO 14001. More importantly, those systems are audited by our own site teams every week — not just by outsiders once a year.
